Summer Fun Pass On Sale Now

With this $12 pass, students who are enrolled in grades K-12 and who are 5-18 years of age can have unlimited bus rides until August 11.

Card holders must present their BT-issued student identification when using the Summer Fun Pass.

Passes can be purchased at the main office and at the 4th and Washington terminal.

 

 

 

 

 

Schedule Updates:

 

All Fixed Route buses and BTaccess service will not be operating on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4th

 

Route 6 Limited will not be in service this summer, May 8 through August 29. Reduced summer service for Routes 6 and 9 will be in effect May 9 through August 29.

 

Route 7 Express does not operate during IU summer break, starting May 9. It will resume service August 30.

Starting Monday, May 11 until June 29, W. 2nd St. road construction will affect all outbound (westbound) traffic.

Outbound Route 4 bus stops on W. 2nd St. between S. Rogers St. and Allen St., including S. Patterson Dr. will be closed. Route 4 outound will detour on S. Rogers St. and continue on W. Allen St. Passengers may catch the outbound Route 4 bus at Rogers St. bus stops south of 2nd St. to Allen St.

The best way to campus is Bloomington Transit!  Convenient service is available to and from campus for most apartment complexes and residence halls.  Avoid the expense and hassle of finding a parking space not to mention the traffic.  Why pay $2.00/gallon for gas when you can ride Bloomington Transit free by showing your IU Campus Access ID Card!

Most off-campus apartment complexes have convenient bus service to and from campus including Smallwood Plaza, 10th and College, The Lofts, Campus Corner, Covenanter Gardens, Bradford Place, Colonial Crest, Fountain Park, Meadow Park, Hooiser Court at Henderson, Woodbridge I-II-III, the Barrington Apts., the Crest, Steeplechase, Woodlands, the Fields, Oakdale Square, Basswood, Bradford Ridge, Rolling Ridge, Willows, the Woods at Latimer, Knightridge, Brownstone, Park Doral, Summit Pointe, Acadia Court, the Gardens, Hunter Ridge, Brandon Court, Timber Ridge, Winslow Ridge, Yorktown, Heritage, Maxwell Terrace, Walnut Knolls, Dunhill, Pigskin, Forrest Ridge, Copper Beech, and many more.

Many IU Residence Halls also have great service on Bloomington Transit.  Residence Halls such as Eigenmann, Tulip Tree, Forest Quad, University Apts., Briscoe Quad, McNutt Quad, Wright Quad, Teter Quad, and Collins LLC are well served by Bloomington Transit routes.

1  Fee Lane/BHS North. This route serves much of the Fee Lane area of campus and goes past the Stadium on the way to campus  If you live in the Brownstone Apartments this is a good way to get to places like the Kelley School of Business, the IU Library, and other locations on 10th Street west of Jordan.  This bus runs every 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

1  South Walnut/Arbor Glen. This route provides service to the southwest corner of campus near the Law School, Sample Gates, and Bryan Hall from the south side of Bloomington including streets like Washington Street (south of 3rd), Henderson Street (south of Grimes Ln), and apartment complexes such as Barclay Square, Brandon Court, Summit Pointe, Timber Ridge, Winslow Ridge, and Arbor Glen.  This bus runs every 30-60 minutes, Monday through Friday, and every 60 minutes on Saturday.  The routing will change effective September 1, 2008 to serve the Clear Creek Shopping Center at Rhorer Road and S.Walnut. In addition, several areas previously served by this route will no longer have direct service including the part of Miller Drive between S.Walnut and Henderson, the part of S.Walnut between Miller Drive and North Drive, and the part of North Drive between S.Walnut and Henderson. Please check the schedule for new times as well as the new routing.

2  West 11th Street/Showers Complex.  This bus serves the Arlington Park Apartments as well as the Crestmont Park area, parts of Maple Street, Rogers Street,  and Morton Street.  This route goes to downtown with no direct service to campus, however, you can transfer to other campus-bound routes at our 4th and Washington passenger facility.  This bus runs every 30 minutes, Monday through Friday.  This bus runs every 60 minutes on Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

2  South Rogers/Countryview. This route serves the Seminary Square shopping center, Bloomington Hospital, the South Rogers Street area, Countryview Apartments, and parts of Rockport Road and and Graham Drive.  No direct service to campus is available on this route, however, you can transfer to other campus-bound routes at our 4th and Washington passenger facility.  This bus runs every 30 minutes, Monday through Friday.  Runs every 60 minutes on Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

3  College Mall/Bradford Place.  This route provides great service to the south side of campus along E. 3rd Street from places like University Commons apartments, Covenanter Gardens, the Woods at Latimer, and Hunter Ridge apartments.  This route also provides great service from downtown and campus to the College Mall as well as Eastland Plaza and Jackson Creek shopping centers and K Mart east.  This bus runs every 30 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

3  Highland Village/Curry Pike.  This route serves the West Kirkwood and West 3rd Street areas including Whitehall Crossing shopping center (Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Lowe's), K Mart west, Sam's, Aldi's and Walmart.  Also serves the Highland Village area and the Kirkwood apartments and parts of Curry Pike and Liberty Drive.  This bus runs every 30 minutes, Monday through Friday.  Runs every 60 minutes on Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

4  High Street/Sherwood Oaks.  This route provides service to the south side of campus and downtown from places such as Sherwood Oaks, Acadia Court apartments, Winslow Ridge apartments, Heritage apartments, and Maxwell Terrace apartments.  This is also a good route to get to the YMCA.  Runs every 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.  And if you live in the Heritage or Maxwell Terrace apartments, you can also ride the 5 Sare Road route to the south side of campus and downtown.

4  Bloomfield Road/Heatherwood.  This routes serves the Bloomfield Road (W. 2nd Street) area with direct service to downtown and the south side of campus from places like the Bicycle apartments Willows apartments, Oakdale Square apartments, Basswood apartments, Bradford Ridge apartments, Forest Ride apartments, Copper Beech apartments, Canterbury apartments, and Heatherwood Mobile Home Court.  Also provides service to Sam's Club, Walmart, and Bloomington Hospital.  Runs every 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

5  Sare Road.  This route provides service to the south side of campus and downtown from places like Steeplechase apartments, the Gardens, Oaklawn townhomes, Woodlands, and Maxwell Terrace apartments.  Also provides service to Jackson Creek Middle School and Child Elementary.  Runs every 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  Check the schedule for times.

6  Campus Shuttle.  If you live in Smallwood Plaza, the 10th and College Apartments, or The Lofts, this is the route to take to get to the 10th Street area of campus as well as the HPER building and the Memorial Union.  This route is also the best way to get to campus along 10th Street from many off-campus apartment complexes such as Fountain Park, Woodbridge I-II-III, the new Barrington Apartments,  Meadow Park, Yorktown, Bradford Place, Knightridge, and Colonial Crest.  This route  also provides great service to and from Eigenmann Hall and other residence halls on 10th Street.  This route is a good way to get to the Kelly Business School, IU Library, Geology, Psychology, HPER building, the Memorial Union, and other buildings.  Runs every 20 minutes on both the east and west sides of the route, Monday through Friday, during the day.  On weeknights this bus runs every 60 minutes up to 11:30 p.m.   Also runs every 60 minutes on Saturday, Sunday, and on weekdays during the summer months and break periods. Check the schedule for times.

7  Henderson/Walnut Express.  This route is the best way to the 3rd Street area of campus if you live along S. Henderson Street in apartment complexes such as Hoosier Court at Henderson, Summitt Pointe, Timber Ridge, or Brandon Court.  This is also a great way to get from the Winslow Farms area to campus and downtown.  Frequency of this route is every 15-20 minutes, Monday through Friday, during the IU fall and spring semesters.  After 7:30 p.m. each weeknight, the service runs every 30 minutes.   Hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to  9:30 p.m. Check the schedule for times.

8  Eastside Local.  This route connects persons living in Hyde Park, The Stands, Park Ridge, Sare Road, Steeplechase Apartments, Oaklawn townhomes, 10th Street, and Pete Ellis Drive areas with the College Mall, Eastland Plaza, and Jackson Creek shopping center.  There is no direct service to campus or downtown.  Runs every 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday.  The routing that the bus travels for this route changes effective September 1, 2008, Please check the schedule for the new route and new times.

9  Route.  This route was previously called C-9 and has changed its number to 9. This is a favorite route for IU students living in Campus Corner, Covenanter Gardens, the Woods at Latimer, the Fields,  Hunter Ridge, Park Doral, Tulip Tree, and Eigenmann Hall to get to the IU Library, Kelley Business School, Music School, Jordan Hall, Memorial Hall, Sample Gates, Geology, Psychology, and most areas of campus on or south of 10th Street.  Runs every 10-20 minutes, Monday through Friday.  Runs every 40 minutes on Saturday and Sundays.  Check the schedule for times

 

 

 

Service Changes for Routes 1 S.Walnut/Arbor Glen, 5 Sare Road, 6 Campus Shuttle, 8 Eastside Local, and 9 IU Campus Will Take Effect

September 1, 2008

Several service changes will take effect on September 1, 2008 as described below. New maps and schedules for these changes are now available on this site. Click here to see the new maps and schedules.

 

Route 1 S.Walnut/Arbor Glen – The weekday frequency between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. will be lengthened to every 60 minutes. As such the outbound trips leaving downtown at 9:40 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 11:40 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. will be eliminated. The inbound trips leaving the southern end of the route at 10:05 a.m., 11:05 a.m., 12:05 p.m., and 1:05 p.m. will be eliminated. In addition, the route will be straightened by eliminating service on route segments as follows: Miller Drive between Henderson and S.Walnut; S.Walnut between Miller Drive and North Drive; and North Drive between S.Walnut and Henderson. Service into the Walnut Park Shopping Center located at S.Walnut and Country Club Drive will be eliminated. The route will be extended to the Clear Creek shopping center located at S.Walnut and Rhorer Road. The southern routing will go south on Henderson to west on Winslow to south on S.Walnut to east on Rhorer to north on Walnut Street Pike and then into the Arbor Glen Apartments. From there the route would follow the new routing.

 

Route 6 Campus Shuttle – Sunday service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. year round. Sunday service on Route 6 between the hours of 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. will be eliminated. Weeknight service during the Indiana University (IU) spring/fall semesters will end at 11:30 p.m. at the Knightridge Apartments (currently this service ends at 12:30 a.m.). During the IU summer break and other break periods, weeknight service will end at 7:30 p.m. at the Knightridge Apartments (currently this service ends at 9:30 p.m.).

 

Route 8 Eastside Local – The southern end of this route will be changed by eliminating service on Rogers Road, High Street, and Moore’s Pike. New service on this route will operate on Sare Road from Rogers Road to the Jackson Creek Middle School. The 11:04 a.m. and 2:04 p.m. trips to the Sherwood Oaks area and Arbor Glen will be eliminated, Monday through Saturday. No other routing changes will be made to the remainder of the route.

 

9 IU Campus/College Mall/Campus Corner – During the IU spring/fall semesters, the Friday frequency will be lengthened to vary with a bus every 10-30 minutes between 7:25 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Friday night frequency will vary with a bus every 30-45 minutes after 7:00 p.m. Weeknight service during the IU spring/fall semesters will end at about 10:45 p.m. at Campus Corner (currently service ends at 12:05 a.m.). During the IU summer break and other break periods, weeknight service will end at 10:30 p.m. at Campus Corner (currently service ends at 11:10 p.m.). During the IU summer break and other break periods, Saturday and Sunday service will end at 10:30 p.m. at Campus Corner (currently service ends at 11:10 p.m.). The name of this route will be changed to 9 IU Campus/Campus Corner.

The next Way To Go session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Bloomington Transit main office at 130 W. Grimes Lane. Participants must reserve a spot by calling 336-7433(RIDE). Please let us know if you have special needs. Way To Go is free to all members of the public. Sessions can also be arranged for Groups and individuals.

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in the BT Conference Room at 130 W. Grimes Lane, Bloomington, Indiana.
